How to achieve goals quickly using other people's time and knowledge

If you struggle to know how to achieve goals quickly, here is a possible solution: use other people’s time and knowledge to accomplish your goals. Millions of people around the world suffer to make dreams like losing weight, starting a business, learning other languages, gaining muscle mass or anything else. These people try to do everything on their own. They research on the internet how to eat better, take courses on entrepreneurship, buy manuals on how to learn a new language. And they are trying to fulfill their goals.

Only there is a much faster, simpler and more efficient way. And it is this way that we will see below, analyzing separately:

  • Why you should take advantage of other people’s time and knowledge
  • What it means to leverage your goals
  • How to achieve goals quickly with the support of others
  • What would your life be like if you knew how to achieve goals quickly

The first step is to understand the importance of taking advantage of other people’s time and knowledge.

Why you should take advantage of other people’s time and knowledge

To begin our analysis of how to achieve goals quickly, I would like you to do a quick exercise of imagination. Imagine that there are two people with the goal of losing 10 pounds. The first person decides to research how to do this on the internet. She sets up a menu and begins to experiment, by trial and error, what works and what doesn’t. These tests consume time, energy and even money buying food, supplements or even medicines that don’t work.

The second person calls a good nutritionist and makes an appointment. Then follow the plan that was passed. Which of the two people do you think is most likely to meet the weight loss goal? In this example, the first person – probably thinking he would save money – tried to learn in a few days everything that a nutritionist takes years in college to learn. And the worst: it used sources of knowledge whose quality cannot be proven, trying to adapt generic knowledge to a specific case.

Meanwhile, the second person used the time and knowledge of a good nutritionist and after an hour of consultation received a plan to follow. This is the great advantage of learning to use other people’s time and knowledge to achieve your own goals. And, as we will see below, you can use this strategy for almost any goal you want to achieve.

What it means to leverage your goals

In the financial market, there is an expression called “operating leveraged”. Operating leveraged means that a person borrowed money from another person and made investments, betting that the return on this investment will be great enough to pay the creditor and still profit from it. Bringing this analogy into the field of personal development, leveraging your goals means borrowing other people’s brains to solve problems that help you achieve your goals. The example of the nutritionist we gave just above is a typical case. In this case, the person borrowed a brain that knows much more about nutrition than he did and used that knowledge to solve a problem he had.

You can do the same for any personal goal. You can hire teachers, mentors or simply professionals who convey the knowledge you need to know how to achieve goals quickly. This can be done either through individual consultations or through courses or even books. But you can go further. You can use not only the knowledge but even the effective work of others to save time, energy and even money. For example, let’s say you want to start a business. You can try to gather all the documentation, file the registration with the commercial board, get the City Hall permits. Or you can simply hire an accountant who does all of this for you.

How to achieve goals quickly with the support of others

The biggest obstacle for those who cannot know how to achieve goals quickly by taking advantage of other people’s time and knowledge is the financial obstacle. Because accessing information today is so easy, fast and cheap, many people believe they are wasting money by hiring others to do something that they themselves could do. So, instead of paying a nutritionist, they try to learn about weight loss on the internet. The question is, is this really a money saver? And, even if it is, will the extra time it will take to reach the goal make up for this savings?

Knowing how to achieve goals quickly is also knowing how to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of using your money to take advantage of other people’s resources. If you have a scarcity mentality, you can believe that you are losing money by hiring a professional who will solve a problem for you with much more quality and speed than you would if you tried to do everything on your own. If you have an abundance mentality, you will understand that you are leveraging your own time when you use your money well to fulfill your big goals with more quality and speed. Ultimately, we are talking about a change in perspective. And so, we would like to invite you to a last exercise of imagination.

What would your life be like if you knew how to achieve goals quickly?

Think for a moment that you have no major financial limitations. In this situation, who would you hire to know how to achieve goals quickly? Who would you hire to either impart knowledge or perform certain jobs for you? If you want to lose weight, would you hire a good nutritionist? And a service to deliver ready and healthy meals to your home?

If you want to gain muscle mass, would you hire a personal trainer to do individual exercises with you four times a week? If your goal is to start a business, would you hire an accountant to quickly formalize your business? Whatever your goal, there are ways to leverage your path towards them by taking advantage of other people’s time and knowledge. Of course, in real life, there are financial limitations and you need to estimate and weigh the advantages and disadvantages of investing in these hires. What you cannot do is maintain a scarcity mentality. It is believing that you are saving money when you are actually spending years on your own trying to reach a goal that someone else could help you achieve much more quickly. This is simply a taboo on money. A taboo that you need to break as soon as possible.
